This summer we’ll be offering our online classes for students in grades K-12 as well as private tutoring both in-person and online!

Elementary Programs (K-6)
For our elementary students, we offer 4-week Focus on Foundations classes in Math, Reading and/or Writing (online). We also offer private tutoring for any subject, both online and in-person.

Secondary Programs (6-12)
For our middle and high school students, we offer two different online classes: Foundations of Algebra & Geometry and an intro class to our Socratic Honors Academy (literature and writing). Private tutoring for any subject is available, both in-person and online.

Enroll Early for 10% off

Enroll by April 30th and get 10% off your summer tuition.

Qualifying for early enrollment requires an $80 deposit (non-refundable), the remainder of the tuition (less the deposit) will be due by the first day of class.

Key Benefits of our Summer Classes

Grades K-12

Small classes of 6-10 students

In-depth learning from experienced tutors and teachers

Use the summer to catch-up or get ahead

Classes run 2-days a week, so students can learn and and still enjoy the break

Classes help students master foundational knowledge so they can better succeed in school

“Keep learning and growing all summer long”

Whether your child is working to catch up or you’re looking for a challenge to keep them advancing, our leveled courses are a great option for summer learning.

At the elementary level – our Focus on Foundations classes teach students the key standards they need to build a strong foundation that leads to long-term academic success.

For our middle and high schoolers, we offer intensive math courses that prepare them for their next year of math, and our Socratic Honors Academy teaches them to critically read and analyze works of great literature to give them a leg-up in their English classes and develop strong academic writing skills.

Of course, private tutoring is available both in-person and online for all ages and subjects.

I hope to see you this summer!

Class Descriptions

Math Foundations

Math courses cover both math concepts and math applications. In conceptual classes, students master the overarching number sense upon which all math is built. In application classes, students learn critical thinking and problem solving as they apply key concepts to mathematical applications and word problems.

Level A: Students learn the basics of addition and subtraction, time, money, unit fractions, and using charts.

Level B: Students learn to add and subtract multi-digit numbers with regrouping, the basics of multiplication and division, equivalent fractions, area, and perimeter.

Level C: Students learn multi-digit multiplication, long division, comparing and ordering fractions, and solving multi-step word problems.

Level D: Students learn operations with fractions and decimals, order of operations, combining expressions, the coordinate plane and solving 1-step equations.

Reading Foundations

Reading courses will begin with targeted lessons on specific comprehension skills using short fiction and non-fiction passages. The alternating class are spent reading real books together, as students learn to apply their comprehension skills to literature.

Level A: Students learn sight words and phonics while developing awareness of story elements (plot, character, setting) from read alouds.

Level B: Students learn the beginning comprehension skills of finding facts and details, main idea, author’s purpose, and distinguishing facts from opinions.

Level C: Students learn to identify text-structure and understand the impact structure has on the author’s meaning.

Level D: Students transition from comprehension to analysis as they learn to track arguments and themes, understand the use of figurative language, and check the credibility of what they read.

Writing Foundations

Writing courses include both grammar and composition. The grammatical portion focuses on learning the logic and structure of the English language, while the composition portion teaches students to express their own ideas and thoughts with clarity and style.

Level A: Students learn to write excellent and detailed sentences while mastering simple parts of speech and convention rules.

Level B: Students learn to write well-structured paragraphs while mastering the major parts of speech and intermediate convention rules.

Level C: Students learn to write simple 5-paragraph essays in the narrative, argumentative and informative styles while learning to identify more complex grammar and conventions.

Level D: Students learn to write with style and tone, while using digital resources to outline and conduct their own research.

Luck of Legends: Creative Writing

In this class, kids collaborate to build a world together online – a world where anything they write becomes part of a story of adventure they get to explore.

During each class, we’ll read and celebrate everyone’s creative contributions, then edit and discuss during the first hour; in the second hour, kids take on the role of characters in the world. If you’ve heard of Dungeons & Dragons, it’s similar, but with a focus on creating your own world and solving problems with your head and heart, not combat.

The stories become a portfolio parents can read through, along with academic feedback on five Common Core Standards that detail your student’s areas of growth and future opportunities for development.

Luck of Legends classes are offered in partnership with Michael Low.

Class Descriptions

Foundations of Algebra and Geometry

These targeted intensives cover the key concepts of algebra and geometry students in middle and high school need to succeed. RSG owner and director Karyn Keene, brings a decade of experience as a math teacher and tutor to these classes. This class is an intensive course, students are expected to be focused and ready to learn.

Level A: Prepare for Math 7, Adv Math 7, Math 8, Pre-Algebra.
Covers decimal and fraction operations, proportions, equations, negative integers, volume/surface area, and introduces linear equations.

Level B: Prepare for Adv Math 8, Math I/Adv Math I, Algebra 1, Geometry
Covers integer operations, linear equations & inequalities, systems of equations & inequalities, advanced volume/surface area, and introduces geometric proofs and functions.

Level C: Prepare for Math II, Adv Math II,  Algebra 2
Covers linear, exponential, and quadratic functions, polynomial operations, similarity, solids, and circles and introduces trigonometry.

Level D: Prepare for Math III, Adv Math III, Pre-Calculus
Covers complex numbers, polynomial, rational, composite, and inverse functions, logarithms, matrix operations and sequences and series.

Socratic Honors Academy

This course equips students to be lifelong learners and scholars, by integrating English, History and the other Humanities. Students journey thematically through challenging literature, write analytical and reflective papers, research historical context and learn to present their ideas and argue thoughtfully through dialectic-style discussion groups. Throughout, students develop their ability to think, research and learn for themselves.

Summer courses focus on a specific analytical tool for students to master (for example, Hero’s Journey, Character Archetypes, Theme/Symbol Analysis, etc) to give them concrete tools to use in their Humanities classes throughout the school year. Students who return summer after summer build an impressive toolbox of analytical skills and frameworks!

NEW! This year, our Socratic Honors students will embark on 3 different day-trips with their class. They’ll attend a theater performance, a concert or art exhibit, and a film related to their course of study.

Secondary Class Prices
